CSS Eleven: good idea, but there are a lot more than eleven of us using CSS

CSS Eleven – an international group of eleven web developers and designers – intends to explain and illustrate the various CSS modules as they are developed.

I’m not sure I like the sound of this. Their existing web page (which seems to keep going down) doesn’t give much away, but I would like to know if they see themselves as a CSS supergroup or if they intend to open their work to collaboration. Point one.

Point two. There’s some good work already being done out there: will CSS Eleven be duplicating that or building on it? I’m thinking in particular of css3.info, which is a really good resource (it could be even better if it was able to build up the collection of compatibility tables on its module status page).

I’m curious to see how the work of CSS Eleven develops.

  1. Thanks for the kind words about css3.info! Fancy helping out in building out those compatibility tables? :)

I can only test in MacOSX, but if that’s any use I’d be glad to help.

I was working on adding some stuff there and writing more examples, unfortunately work travel commitments have got in the way for the moment. I have a office to work from for a couple of weeks so hopefully I’ll get to finish the examples I’ve been working on.

That’s good to know, thanks David. I’ve also agreed to contribute to it, fool that I am :) . BTW, I wasn’t criticising css3.info for not having more comparison tables: my point (not well made, I know) was that maybe this is the sort of work that CSS Eleven should be collaborating on (as far as I know, of course, individuals may already be).
