Digital mentors Birmingham meet, 12 November 2008
I haven’t blogged here much recently. I intend to try and rectify that soon, but in the meantime I’d like to point you point you towards digitalmentor.org.
On Wednesday a bunch of people met in Birmingham to share their thoughts about the CLG’s digital mentor tender. It was a very hastily organised meeting, but was announced a number of times via Twitter and posted on this digitalmentor.org and so was able to attract some people who were new to the discussion.
At the start of the meeting I asked everyone present to introduce themselves and give an off-the-cuff answer to two questions (inspired by a post by Mike Amos-Simpson):
- Who do you imagine would be digital mentors?
- Who do you imagine would be the beneficiaries?
This part of the meeting was recorded. The transcription is available on digitalmentor.org.
Hi Michael – have added my thoughts to the post over on the digitalmentor site. How did you manage the transcribing in the end? I did have a quick look for open source options because its something I’ve been after myself (audio transcribing) but nothing came up in my quick search. I used to use a package called macspeech that did a pretty good job – I dictated into an ipod and then let it do its magic, but that was commercial software and is no longer supported
