Cooking with Twitter

This evening Mark Steadman and I stumbled excitedly over each other to launch our fun new idea: cooking with Twitter.

As a result of the confusion we ended up with different names for the Twitter account and the website, but no matter. All we now have to do is carry it out. Oops.

Alright, so the idea’s not new:

The Guardian already does an online cook-a-long, but ours will be fun too I hope. And I can pretty much guarantee that it’ll be way more shambolic.

The reason for doing it is not just for fun. Although I enjoy cooking I get thoroughly disheartened by the thought of eating my creation by myself. I’m not a fussy eater, so the effort and planning is wasted on me; and instead of being delighted by it I’m simply reminded that I’m single.

So Mark suggested cooking collaboratively via Twitter. Obviously the actual cooking can’t be collaborative (although there’s a thought for an interesting party), but there’s plenty of scope for sharing tips, arguing about accuracy, and discussing its merits while eating it.

So come on over to cookingwithtwitter, and follow us at twitter.com/cookeryclub (note the two different names alluded to at the start).

Our first meal is Sunday 19 April. Bring dessert.
