Actually, it’s because an enthusiastic bunch of us have been tireless in drumming up votes.

Created in Birmingham helps to link up Birmingham’s artistic and creative communities. Over the last few years I have found it incredibly hard to find anything in Birmingham other than mainstream cinema and theatre. Created in Birmingham, as well as other innovations, have made this much easier. As a result I now feel part of things here rather than completely outside.

This is not to devalue some of the other very worthy contenders, in particular (in my opinion) Neil Clark (last year’s winner) and The View From Here.

I think Neil is worthy of winning the award, but I believe that Created in Birmingham is too (particularly as I live in Birmingham and benefit greatly from the blog).

And it seems that if Created in Birmingham doesn’t win then Melanie Phillips (Daily Mail and Spectator journalist) certainly will.

A comment by Neil Clark himself accuses Phillips of being the beneficiary of a smear campaign by her Zionist supporters. Therefore you would expect his supporters would be glad of a contender who can give Phillips a run for her money. As Created in Birmingham currently has the upper hand why not let it win a victory for all those contenders who are not Melanie Phillips, rather than accusing the awards of being fixed in Birmingham’s favour?

So whether you want to support Birmingham’s creative communities or simply see Melanie Phillips beaten to first place, please vote now, and vote daily, for Created in Birmingham.
